MESSAGE:

The coming of a king, president or head of state is usually heralded long before his arrival. There are usually so much preparations to receive him before his arrival. If he is visiting a part of his domain or another country, the purpose of such visit is usually spelt out. The details of his itinerary and functions are made public and people are made ready to receive him.

Out text is referred to as the prayer of King Solomon and his new reign. It was a prayer that his reign would be characterized by justice, peace and righteousness. It captured what is desired during his reign as king.

The passage also prophetically pointed to the coming of our Lord Jesus, His kingdom and reign over all the earth. His kingdom would be superior to any other that had existed. “Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him. For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.” It paints a picture of the glorious messianic reign of Christ over the world.

We are enjoined to pray for the government, leaders and all those who have the rule over us so that we can go about our lawful businesses without any hindrance. We are equally expected to herald the coming of the great King and His kingdom to the world. We must help the world get prepared to receive Him. It is our duty to bring sinners to the loving Saviour. If we do not blow the trumpet, no-one will. So, we must be ready to noise it abroad that Christ the King is coming.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Herald the coming of the King by proclaiming the salvation message.

HYMN

PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM!

1. Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Sing, ye saints! His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him! hail Him! mightiest angels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will feed His people,
In His arms He carries them all day long;
O ye saints that live in the light of His presence,
Praise Him! praise Him! ever in joyful song!

2. Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
For our sins He suffered and bled and died;
He, our Rock, our Hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him! hail Him! Jesus, the Crucified;
Loving Savior, meekly enduring sorrow,
Crowned with thorns that cruelly pierced His brow;
Once for us rejected, despised, and forsaken,
Prince of Glory, ever triumphant now.

3. Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
Heavenly portals, loud with hosannahs ring!
Jesus, Savior, reigneth for ever and ever;
Crown Him! crown Him! Prophet and Priest and King!
Death is vanquished! Tell it with joy, ye faithful,
Where is now thy victory, boasting grave?
Jesus lives! No longer thy portals are cheerless;
Jesus lives, the mighty and strong to save.
