MESSAGE:

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven, says the Preacher in Ecclesiastes 3:1. God has all things in the human life in His hands and under His control. It is man’s duty to get connected to God through the Saviour Jesus Christ and seize opportunity of emerging times and seasons to take hold on the promises of God’s word since we know that such Words are certain.

God had appointed 70 years of Babylonian captivity for Israel for their sin of disobedience and rebellion against Him. It was now about time for the nation’s deliverance, and the psalmist, seeing that the set time was accomplished took it upon himself to pray for God to arise and have mercy on the nation.

There are lessons to draw from this. Firstly, sin leads into captivity and oppression of the devil, but repentance and obedience bring you out of it. Secondly, genuine repentance and importunity in prayer usually precede a time of spiritual refreshing – they are an indication of good things God wants to do. Conversely too, continual sinning and disregard for God’s word are indicators of gloomy days ahead. Thirdly, some of our important needs in life e.g. salvation, have their time line. If we delay or refrain from seeking to get them, the opportunity may be lost forever.

On the other hand, saints whose breakthrough and comfort appear to delay should not look back but look up. As there was a set time for the Jews in Babylon, there is an appointed time for your breakthrough and when that time comes, no bar of iron nor gate of brass can prevent you. Divine help will not only come to the penitent, it will come at the best time.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY God’s time is the best time, not that of mortal man.

MEDITATION

Take a little thought about God

1. He is the active King of the universe vv12,15, 18, 21,22. Also called the King of kings.

Q What are the implications of His Kingship?

2. He has His own set timings for His actions and programmes for individuals v13.

Q What does this teach you about patience, guidance and peace in times of challenges?

3. Man can fast track or delay His manifestations by his attitude to His spoken and written word vv14,15,17, 24.

Q What are the responsibilities of the man who does not want to miss His time of visitation?

4. He is passionate and eager to deliver man from death, destructions, devil, diseases and damnations vv19,20.

Q. What is the will of God concerning your situation in view of His nature?

5. He is immutable, unchangeable vv25-27.

Q. Should any Bible reader has any excuse for not knowing His will, way, word and responses to our actions as could be inferred from both the OT and NT? For example, in the Daily Manna yesterday, generational untimely death was the punishment for sacrilege and in the NT, the Corinthian Church suffered the same. “Many sleep” or die. He changes not.

6. He is eternal vv25-27.
He is eternal past and future. There is non else that beat that record apart from the Godhead. All were created, including Satan. What are the implications of that?
