MESSAGE:

The challenges of life often breed severe pain and discomfort. As a result, we tend to desire a quick fix from the Lord, that He will waste no time in giving us a solution.

But God does not work by man’s timetable, nor does He always answer when we desire it most. Vironika Tugaleva, an award-winning author and poet, has some fitting words of admonition: “Whatever you do, it will be a path. Life does not work like a light switch – on/off, fat/skinny, miserable/happy. All things take time, patience, and practice. Anyone who tells you differently is profiting off your fearful ignorance of the truth.”

Moses did not quite understand this in the early part of his ministry. In obedience to God, he had gone to Pharaoh to demand that he should let the people of Israel go from captivity to serve and worship the Lord. But instead of granting the request, Pharaoh strengthened the severity of the people’s working condition. To him, the Israelites had a lot of idle time, hence their agitation for freedom to go and serve God.

Saying that their already hard labour had been made harsher, the Israelites blamed Moses and Aaron for the worsening condition. Moses himself complained to God about Pharaoh’s wicked response. He wondered why he was sent on this mission, adding that since he spoke to Pharaoh, he had done only more evil to the Israelites; “neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.”

God does not always answer our prayers when and how we expect it. The fact that the hardship and suffering we are experiencing have persisted does not mean that He is not at work on our behalf. Such tough experiences are often meant to increase our faith and enable us to trust God to do the best for us.

MEDITATION

Technical errors during spiritual warfare

1. The spiritual warfare is different from other warfares in some sense.

2. Don’t negotiate with your Pharaoh (Satan). It is fight to finish. You are predestined to overcome. No retreat, no surrender vv15,16, I John 4:4.

3. Don’t let the adversaries notice your discouragement even when you are. It gives them more reinforcement to fight you vv15,16. “Sing when your trials are greatest”.

4. Don’t ever expect pity or understanding from your enemy. They may feign it but it is never real. Don’t be deceived. Never open up your mind to them. Your true Helper is God vv17,18, I Peter 5:8.

5. Never think the adversary is at home with your drawing closer to God. He wants to do all that is possible to discourage, distract and stop it vv17,18,19. Watch. Keep firing and never faint Luke 18:1.

6. Increased pressure from the adversaries is a sign of their fear of defeat. Be valiant in fight, press on vv20,21.

7. When the battle is raging, passing blame to your Pastor, God or any other person is counterproductive. Just continue in fervency vv22,23.

Praise God because you are destined to overcome

Ask God for the spirit of a conqueror

Ask God for the power and anointing that supersedes your adversaries and challenges.

Ask God that this year will be a year of victory and triumph for all His true children.

HYMN

The song of the soldier

1 Rise, ye children of salvation,
All who cleave to Christ the Head!
Wake, arise, O mighty nation,
Ere the foe on Zion tread;
He draws nigh and would defy
All the hosts of God Most High.

2 Saints and heroes long before us
Firmly on this ground have stood;
See their banners waving o’er us,
Conqu’rors through the Savior’s blood.
Ground we hold, whereon of old,
Fought the faithful and the bold.

3 Fighting, we shall be victorious
By the blood of Christ our Lord;
On our foreheads, bright and glorious,
Shines the witness of His Word;
Spear and shield on battlefield,
His great name; we cannot yield.

4 When His servants stand before Him,
Each receiving his reward,
When His saints in light adore Him,
Giving glory to the Lord;
“Victory!” our song shall be,
Like the thunder of the sea.
